Ares

Ares arrived at the shelter as an emergency intake; the person who brought him in found him being mauled by dogs, and it was clear that Ares had not had a good meal for a very long time. When he arrived, he was covered in dog slobber along his spine from where the dogs had been shaking him, and his back legs did not work very well; he was completely emaciated, with only a thin covering of skin and fur over his bones, and no muscle mass. As you can see from the photos at the top of the listing, our dedicated volunteers have done an amazing job of nursing Ares back to health! The vet says there does not appear to be any permanent damage from the dogs, and as Ares has begun putting on weight and gaining muscle mass and stamina, he has also begun exploring the shelter on brief cage-free jaunts, even jumping up to low platforms from time to time (though we still help him to get down). After a few more weeks of rest and recovery, we anticipate Ares will be fully able to jump up and down with ease. His purrrrrsonality is beginning to shine through, and he is so grateful to his rescuer and to all the volunteers who are caring for him!

Ares has been neutered, wormed, and fully vaccinated. Adoption fee is suggested minimum $40 (more gratefully accepted). All adult pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to adjust to each other. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! If you have found the pet of your dreams in Ares , Forget-Me-Not will send your new buddy out to you on one of our regular monthly transports to the Seattle area (usually North Bend or Monroe) or North Spokane.
