6/26/16:

We are getting ready for bed
This is just too cute

12/24/15:

I promise we are are not abusing them, but they sure think so~~  haaha, especially Chiquita who could not look more more forlorn. Anyway Merry Christmas from the Seattle Pets!

10/23/15:

Hoping that all the fires are behind you and that you fared well.  Our little Princess is just the most bossy little thing you ever saw.  She trots around the yard barking and acting like a princess, which of course, she is.

She is so wonderful, she has such confidence now.  She even goes for walks in the woods, however I still keep her on her leash.  She loves her bath now and is so happy when I put her in the tub.  She just lays there enjoying the warm water.  What a stinker she is.

Well just wanted to give you a little catch up.  I hope all is well with you.

5/30/15:

Happily chewing away.

4/30/15:

We have rescued a little 11 yr old Bichon Frese from the Seattle Animal Shelter and he and Chiquita have formed this little alliance as shown  begging for chicken.  OMG they are so cute together.  He is having the time of his life here and watching him and Chiquita run around like the bobsy twins, they are a hoot.  Poor Abel, he just says "whatever"...haha.

Chiquita is just wonderful and blooming. She has no fear of anything anymore and is such a darling little girl. We have had her for two months and it's like she has been here her whole life.

4/3/15:

Miss Chiquita is truly the princess of the household.  She has taken over her place on the couch and is such a love bug.  She is also a little chow hound, loves her food and can't wait to be fed. She is such a little gift. She is now loving her little frozen knuckle bone which she gets to chew on all day while I am gone.  This keeps her teeth clean and keeps her occupied until I get home.  She just loves them.  I get them at an organic butcher shop and can get her small ones.  Of course Abel gets a huge one!  She tries to jump on my bed to eat the cat food but it's too high for her. I keep their dry food on the bed so she can't get into it.  She just has a nose for food.  I will take some nice pictures this weekend and send them over to you.

3/22/15:

Just a short update on Miss Chiquita. She is doing  so well it's hard to believe she has only been here short of one month.  She runs outside and goes potty and she plays and runs around in little circles.  Abel tries to herd her and they run around in circles. She never potties in the house, sleeps all night and wakes me up about 5:30 to go out.  She jumps up on the couch and goes everywhere.  She is so sweet and loving and is such a wonderful little dog. We are so happy that we can give her a final refuge home where she will have nothing but good things.

3/16/15:

She had her big bath did really well she looks gorgeous and is taking over.

3/14/15:

Well the little princess is doing so well, she is now barking along with Abel against intruders!! It's the first time I heard her bark.  She is a little piglet, gobbles up all her food. I have been separating her dry food from her wet food, giving her two different dishes.  She eats up the wet first and then goes to the dry.  She is such a good girl, sleeps all night.  I don't lock her in her crate, I let her roam where she wants to go.

Today we are going to have a bath and I got some detangler to spray on her so I don't hurt her as she has some major tangles. I am going to give her a little Ace to take the edge off.

The only problem is that she does not always pee or poop and I worry about it.  I take her outside every few hours and sometimes she goes and sometimes not.  I wonder if that is a throw back to when she was crated so much.

But she jumps on the couch and goes everywhere in the house and the yard.  She loves attention and loves being petted.  For only being here two weeks I think she is doing amazingly well.  Pouring rain here today so we are in front of the fireplace and cuddling down!!

3/8/15:

She had her vet visit today and everything looks good.  She was scared but behaved very well.  Vet said we need to keep watch for any more tumors as they tend to reoccur. Need to get her some flea meds I only had the big size.  She also needs a bordello shot yet but other than that she is good to go.  She is a little chow hound and LOVES food.  She gets me up every morning and is now going out to potty on a regular basis.  She tended to hold it in but now seems more comfortable peeing and pooping..

She has some patches of fur that are matted and won't let you comb it out.  The vet suggested a little Ace to calm her down before we tackled combing her out. All in all for one week, she is doing excellent. She comes out and gets on the couch to snuggle and goes into her crate at night, stays all night and never has an accident. What a wonderful little girl.

3/7/15:

We had a little mishap yesterday, she got under my bed and got stuck so we had to pull the bed apart.  Don''t know what made her get under there but she was soooooo happy to be out.  This morning she woke me up wanting to go outside, ate all her food and ran around and played with Abel for a minute.  She is now in her crate chewing on the morning treat which is a frozen little marrow bone which will keep her teeth clean, she just loves it.  I put her wet and dry food in separate dishes and that way she will eat both.  She is fitting in well and tomorrow I am taking her to the Vet for her first check up.  She needs a good brushing out but she doesn't like when I hit a tangle.  This little dog is just the sweetest dearest thing ever and Abel is so gentle with her.  We are so happy you found her for us.  I will keep  you updated on all her progress, you might even get sick of hearing me crow!!!

3/4/15:

Do you think she has taken over?   She is feeling very safe and comfortable and becoming one of the gang.

3/3/15:

We are making small baby steps; she is still very wary and her eyes follow me everywhere. She is eating good but won't eat her kibbles.  I am going to let her eat what she wants for now, no need to pick any battles. She does not seem to be drinking much water tho.  She slept through the night and went outside and peed. She gets out of the crate and walks around for about 30 seconds and then back to the crate which definitely is her comfort zone.  I have never heard her bark, she never makes a sound. She is sleeping now with 2 bears.  Deb and I gave her a little bath last night to wash off some poop on her skirt, she was very wary, snapped at me, but once we got her in the tub and sprayed warm water on her she relaxed and then let me towel dry her.  Put her back in her bed with fresh bedding and she ate and went to sleep.  It is going to take time with her but we will let her do it on her own timeline.  I stayed home again today from work to spend more time with her. The cats and Abel are very sweet with her, they approach her but then back off.  Abel tried to play with her this morning but I told him that was not allowed now.  She is a dear little soul and Iam lucky to have her thanks to you!

(later that day): The little girl turned a big corner this afternoon - she is coming up to me and letting me pet her.She also went outside and pooped and peed all on her own. She is exploring the house going into all the rooms. She ate a treat.  Fantastic!!!!

3/1/15:

She is getting outside and exploring no poop yet very brave today doing so much better than expected. She is trotting all over the house checking out the bedrooms and everywhere and then going outside.  She follows me everywhere, she is so sweet and has taken food from my hand.  I LOVE this dog.

2/28/15:

The sweet little girl never made a peep all the way home.  She did not want to get out of the crate and I had to almost crawl inside it to get her out.  She was very scared.  I carried her in and put her in her enclosure, left Abel outside.  I took her harness off and she settled down on a blanket outside her crate.  She drank a whole bowl of water and I just gave her a little bit of people white meat chicken which she promptly gobbled up. She is now sound asleep.  It has been a hard day for her.  The cats and Abel are very quietly checking in on her and everything is peaceful and quiet now.

Once she feels safe she will be fine.  She is eating and drinking and sleeping so that's a big step forward.
