Kahlan on a walk at Remlinger’s Farm:

9/20/12:

I believe Kami and Petra have been with me for three weeks now, and as you can see, Kahlan is much, much more accepting of them and they of her, although there is a bit of jealousy on Kahlan’s part when I play with the kitties.

Kahlan’s second try at sheep-herding:

8/6/12:

Just wanted to update you on Kahlan (her name was Asia when I adopted her in 2011).  She is happy and healthy—loves to swim in the river and just last week we completed obedience 111 for the second time.  We are starting  the class again next week.  She is almost ready for off-leash heeling; she has learned so much!  I am so happy she came to live with me.  I just taught her to shut the doors, cupboard, front and back, and she is so exuberant about it all that she actually sprung the hinges on several.  Yikes, right?

12/19/11:

Kahlan is doing well. On Friday, I let her off leash for the first time, in the national forest behind my house, and every time I called her, she came back immediately. She definitely knows her new name, and she truly loved going for a run. I have taken her for daily, leashed walks on the Snoqualmie Trail, and she enjoys doing this too, but not as much as a free romp. I think she is learning down; off, is a bit more of a challenge--stay always works in the house, but hardly ever when we are outside and there are distractions. She continues to chase the cat, but only when he runs. She's a little schizo about this. I think the great Pyrenees (protect the sheep) is at odds with the border collie (herd the sheep) and Dancer is her sheep, and she doesn't know quite what to do. But I am convinced now, that she won't actually hurt Dancer; he can out run and jump her. I have only left her in the house alone for a total of two hours, but hope to start increasing the time; I hope to at least work a few half days soon. I will send pictures soon.
