Thought you might get a kick out of seeing my helper in action...I got a 5 day old kitten to foster...all by itself and Gracie loves to clean it...so after each feeding, I have to hold it up so she can clean it's face..(won't let her do the other end, don't want her getting parasites) didn't want to put her to work...but she gets so excited when I bring the kitten out. Gracie is such a good dog...woke up to her curled up behind my knees this am voluntarily touching me...she and Bud are total buddies...just exactly what I had hoped for both of them.

5/6/11:

Gracie is blooming...she runs...and licks...snuggles in my bed...I don't know if she truely "gets" she's staying..but she will soon enough..I got her license yesterday, and registered all her stuff with the vet; attached is a pic of her with new friend Bill, and Sophie keeping an eye on things. We have no problems with "accidents" and we are working on learning to understand some basic words (as you know she knows nothing)...as long as I can make it safe for her with come, wait etc..at her age we will see how far we go...she is indeed a "blessing".

You will note her name has changed, I have been told that they will dissasociate with "that old" life when they are called something else. We could not think of anything more appropriate than Grace as it means "blessing" and she certainly is that. I am very thankful to all of you who were able to love her, part with her and trust her to my keeping. She is blending in to my little pack as tho she was custom designed.

I have a 13 year old Austrailian shep/spaniel mix "Bud" also a rescue and Sophie a dsh dilute tortie who is almost 1 (I hand raised her from 1 day old) and Tiggy a calico ( she was my late husband's) who is 12... they all have taken to her, and she has met a few of the dogs in the neighborhood.

I don't have a fenced yard, so we walk many times a day...I live in a cottage area a block from a lake, she has discovered that the stream in front of my house has really good water (with all 4 feet) and we have had no accidents either. I think you will be pleased to hear that she sleeps with me and has only been in her crate twice since she came, and those were just in and outs.

I thought I may have to scale back my own rescue work this year...I hand raise orphan kittens, but Grace will not be a hindrance to that. She will just be who she is and other than teaching her a few basic words to make her safe, will not be expected to "perform". She has actually started to give me kisses. My hope for her is that she can discover joy, and maybe even learn to play... with time and patience we will see.

5/2/11:

I am just going to give you a quick update..Daisy now "Gracie" (means blessing) traveled home wonderfully..she goes for her walks, gobbles the food I make and is getting along with both cats and of course Bud, she follows him like a shadow, but shows deference to his sr position. She has only gone in her kennel twice since I set it up..once to see where it was and last nite at bedtime...but she has learned to use the ramp to the bed and sleeps on the bed with me, Sophie & Bud. When I am on the computer she is under the desk at my feet. I can cuddle her and she really seems to enjoy it. She runs up and down the couch and pushes the cushions off...her idea of being funny...

I just think she is the ideal fit, she will let me pick her up and will sit on my lap...is cuddling and playing with the 1 year old cat (Sophie) who loves her right back, she has been longing for someone to play with as the other cat and Bud are just too old. I can never ever thank you enough for her...and I think that this is just the place she needed...she can just be exactly the sweet little girl that she is meant to be.
