Adopted October 2010

Just an email to let you know how things are going with Abdula. She now has a new name, of course. It is a Hawaiian name as I grew up in Hawaii - it is Kaia (K-eye-ah). It means pure. Yes, she is a pure sweetheart; and a pure little devil! We are having so much fun with her.

Kai runs at a full-tilt boogie 100 mph hour! She has settled in beautifully. She is fearless and has no boundaries (some need to be set!).

While we were waiting for Kaia to arrive, we came into possession of another 3 month old kitty that needed a foster home. We decided to keep her as she had been traumatized somehow and really needed a quiet home to be in. Her name is Ilsa and she is a dilute calico/gray tabby. Kai and Ilsa have made best friends. They run up and down the whole apartment and wrestle and tussle. They are so cute together! Kai is definitely an alpha cat and Ilsa is definitely a beta. It works well for them. Kai has gotten Ilsa to come out more from under the bed and play for hours. Kai also has an attraction to Rena (older cat). They look practically identical. It makes me wonder what Kai/Abdula's mother looks like? Do you know? I was thinking that maybe Kai thinks Rena might be her ... or at least a good substitute.

Everyone has been vetted and are all up to date on vaccines. It is a happy household, and now it is crazy with kitties everywhere! Kai has investigated me in bed at night and walks up and down. Eventually, if she'd ever slow down some, I think she may decide to sleep with me. We shall see.

Again, thanks so much for bringing Kaia into our lives. She is such a pleasure. Now, if only I could get her to slow down!
